This colored pencil bird painting titled “You Can’t See Me” was inspired by a little fledgling robin that I spotted looking out my front door window.
A robin decided to make a nest in a potted hanging flower plant that I had hanging on my front porch. I watched her as she sat diligently on her egg’s until they hatched, and as the baby robins grew becoming almost too big for their nest. Mom and Dad robin were busy bringing food to them. It was interesting watching them grow.
As the day’s went by the flowering plant that the nest was in slowly died because I had stopped watering the flowering plant when the robin made a nest in it.
One day when the babies became fledglings, I walked over to the door to take my daily checkup on the activity in the robin’s nest and I was sad to see that the nest was empty. Mom and Dad robin and the fledgling baby robins were no longer occupying the nest.
I started to walk away when I noticed on a chair that had a Boston Fern plant on it there was this little fledgling robin peeking up from under the leaves. I’m sure he was hoping that I could not see him.
