Reference photos for horse drawing are found in strange places
My husband and I often take day trips driving around our beautiful state of Michigan. I am always looking for reference photos for my artwork. On this particular day we stopped into a small ice cream shop for an ice cream cone. There must have been a horse show somewhere that had recently ended because we passed several horse trailers on the road. As we pulled into the ice cream shop, we noticed a trailer parked with the window’s open, and three horses’ heads out of the windows intently watching their owner’s getting ice cream. I had to take a picture of them.
I don’t know if they were waiting for a frosty treat, or if they just wanted their owners to get back to take them home.
The photo turned out to be a great reference for a horse drawing. I never know where my next reference photo might come from. It is usually when I least expected.
